FFTANG! FFTANG!
On Friday Huskiii, Captain Trumpet and Paolo bring the fftang band to a warehouse party in Whitechapel. Bit hush, so email for address details, but I can tell you its 8pm – 6am and yes they’ll be showing the footy. Proceeds will go to help the Akha Community in Northern Thailand to give Akha children access to education in their own language. Find out more at myspace.com/pwplondon.
FFTANG! FFTANG! FFTANG!
On Saturday come see in the longest day of the year at the Summer Solstice Sunrise party at The Castle. Huskiii will be playing a usual fftang set alongside tropical/organic/percussive sounds from Henry Electronics. Starts at 10.30pm but highlight will be the 4-5am sunrise set when daylight will burst through those huge Castle windows. Bring your anteojos de sol.
As our 93 Feet East night continues to evolve (big news soon cometh – watch this space), the FFTANG! soundsystem will be playing a rooftop gig tomorrow (10th) in Shoreditch. Huskiii (decks), Paolo (percussion) and Captain Trumpet (guess the instrument) will be making a racket inbetween bona fide bands with singers and everything.
Above Bar Aquarium, Old St from 6 till 9, Free entry.
Cargo are on fuego at the mo… Not long after the latin legend dancefest that was the Joe Bataan gig, we now have Columbian diva, Totó La Momposina, gracing these East London shores on Sep 16.
A few remixes floating about this past year have appropriated her vocals, and she has a new album out. But for us nothing touches the majesty of her 2002 LP Pacantó.
Do Shoreditch kids dance? Bar the sparse front row It was weirdly stationary at this gig. Serene. So. much. serenity. Crowd too cool for the bop or non-plussed? Personally I thought Daniel and Tiffany delivered an absolute crackin set but I got rainbow smitten bias.
They release their 2nd EP Kabukimono, next month on Manimal Vinyl.
