THE 13th TRIBE have been playing on the FFTANG! stereo solidly for the last coupla days and this slice of latin/afro hiphop won’t leave my headspace… Hailing from Glasgow and featuring Cuban vocalist Nicheflow (with shouts out to Jah Rastafari and Africa) Negro sums up everything about our night in 205 perfect seconds.
And unlike Raekwon they aint only built for Cuban links – 13T’s back-catalogue features musicians and vocalists from Haiti, Cameroun, Spain, Mali, Venezuela, Senegal, Ethiopia and Portugal to name a few. And the awesome co-produced VOCA project (which provided the vox in this cut) is definitely worth delving into for afrocoustic goodness. I’m told the forthcoming album is “the mutts”.
